P. 06
OTHER DETAILS
The Fiesta will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May
2, 1992.
it is our understanding that the Downtown Merchants' Association
has been supportive of the Cinco de Mayo Fiestas.
Other Community non-profit organizations will be given an
opportunity to raise funds by renting a booth(s) and selling their
merchandise.
It is estimated that in the course of the day approximately 15,000
to 20,000 people will come by the downtown area.
PROMOTION FOR REDWOOD CITY
The Fiesta in downtown Redwood City should bring the Redwood City
community and other communities closer together. Civic, Service,
Social, and other community organizations will be encouraged to
participate by setting up fund-raising booths and assisting G.M.A. in
bringing a fun-filled event to Redwood City. A Spanish language
radio station from the area will be participating in the event. Their
personnel will be responsible for handling most of the publicity for
the event.
The event will be advertised as a Family Event. We want parents,
grandparents and children to attend and enjoy themselves. In
previous years, families really enjoyed the show, food and
beverages.
We are also contemplating having a designated area where dancing
can take place. This will be on the Hamilton Street area where we
will have a stage for a band, a canopy and tables for a beer garden
effect, This will keep any dancing in this area instead of people
trying to dance where the other entertainment is taking place.
FUNDS
Any profits derived from the event will go back to the community in
the form of scholarships, cultural events, helping the needy, and
through other similar programs.
( Via
