District Identitv and Signage (DISI Committee) <br />The committee promotes the RCIA district to residents of Redwood City as well as to <br />potential visitors to the area. Their primary expenses have included a suite of <br />commercials that have shown on Comcast television and the Magic Lantern shows. In <br />addition, the committee has utilized the services of Olive PR to promote the many <br />projects, accomplishments and attractions of the district. Olive PR's work has brought of <br />local and regional recognition and has increased the international media exposure. <br />Some upcoming projects this committee is pursuing include spotlight commercials <br />through Comcast, a showcase event for district property owners, and participation in the <br />4t" of July parade. <br />Parkinq Subcommittee <br />During the first three years of the RCIA organization, this committee used their funds to <br />provide the valet parking to downtown guests on weekend nights. Following the <br />installation of the new digital signs at the garage entrances, use of the valet parking <br />significantly decreased and was discontinued. The parking committee is funding a study <br />to determine where to place additional electronic signs to direct visitors into the <br />downtown area and to indicate where parking is available. That study should be <br />completed in spring 2018. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The City Council may choose to not accept the enclosed annual report and require that <br />additional amendments or information be provided. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The City of Redwood City participates in RCIA as a property owner within the district. <br />The current yearly assessment for City -owned properties downtown is $66,182. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />This annual update is not a project under CEQA Guidelines Section 15378 because it <br />has no potential for resulting in either a direct or a reasonably foreseeable indirect <br />change in the environment. <br />
