District Identitv and Signage (DISI Committee)
The committee promotes the RCIA district to residents of Redwood City as well as to
potential visitors to the area. Their primary expenses have included a suite of
commercials that have shown on Comcast television and the Magic Lantern shows. In
addition, the committee has utilized the services of Olive PR to promote the many
projects, accomplishments and attractions of the district. Olive PR's work has brought of
local and regional recognition and has increased the international media exposure.
Some upcoming projects this committee is pursuing include spotlight commercials
through Comcast, a showcase event for district property owners, and participation in the
4t" of July parade.
Parkinq Subcommittee
During the first three years of the RCIA organization, this committee used their funds to
provide the valet parking to downtown guests on weekend nights. Following the
installation of the new digital signs at the garage entrances, use of the valet parking
significantly decreased and was discontinued. The parking committee is funding a study
to determine where to place additional electronic signs to direct visitors into the
downtown area and to indicate where parking is available. That study should be
completed in spring 2018.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may choose to not accept the enclosed annual report and require that
additional amendments or information be provided.
FISCAL IMPACT
The City of Redwood City participates in RCIA as a property owner within the district.
The current yearly assessment for City -owned properties downtown is $66,182.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This annual update is not a project under CEQA Guidelines Section 15378 because it
has no potential for resulting in either a direct or a reasonably foreseeable indirect
change in the environment.
