8.C. - Page 7
of square footage currently proposed by the developer.
"This table does not include recent contributions the development has made to local
nonprofits, including the Redwood City Boys and Girls Club.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION
The NOP comment period commenced on January 12, 2018 and will conclude on
February 12, 2018. Notification of the City Council scoping session and NOP availability
was published in the Daily Journal newspaper, mailed to property owners and occupants
within 500 feet of the project site, posted on the City's website, and provided to the State
Clearinghouse, including all applicable state and local agencies.
FUTURE STEPS
When the Draft EIR is complete, it will be released for a public comment and
review period of 60 -days. During this time, the City will hold a public hearing with the
Planning Commission to receive comments on the Draft EIR. After the conclusion of
the review period, the staff and consultant team will evaluate the comments and
prepare Responses to Comments (RTC) and the Final EIR. The proposed project
will be considered by the Architectural Advisory Committee and Planning
Commission. The City Council will act on the project entitlements and Final EIR.
ALTERNATIVES
It is requested that the City Council provide direction on the scope of the environmental
review including, but not limited to, any potential impacts that should be studied, the
length of the NOP and Draft EIR public comment periods, and potential alternatives to
be studied in the EIR (in addition to the ones currently proposed). The Council also may
propose that additional economic analysis work be conducted. Finally, the City Council
may provide direction to the applicant on Community Benefits.
FISCAL IMPACT
All costs associated with General Plan and Zoning amendment, preparation of
Environmental Impact Report and review of the project will be the responsibility of the
Applicant.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The City has determined that an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is required for
the proposed project. The City has issued a Notice of Preparation (NOP), which
informs State and local agencies, as well as other interested parties, that the City is
preparing an EIR. A 30 -day comment period allows for agencies and individuals to
provide input on the scope and content of the forthcoming draft EIR.
