S. Ligueri of the Native Sons of the Golden West asked if
the county and municipal buildings would be completed in time for the
dedications 'scheduled for May 14. .City Manager Dimmitt and Chairman
Millington assured him that' the buildings would be completed suffici-
ently to allow for the dedications. ~. Liguori said that his organ-
ization had to be certain of the date before plans could be laid.

In connection with the sUbject, Mr. Spinas asked for a clarifi-
cation of the purpose for which his committee for the Spring Festi-
val was appointed. Vice-Chairman Hagan, who appointed the committee,
said its function was to co-ordinate and arrange the program for the
Festival. First meeting of the committee was set for March 21 at 4
p.m, im~'lthe office of Mr.. Spinas, with representatives of the Native
Sons of the Golden West and the American Legion to be present. The
Chairman was to ask Supervisor John W. Poole to _be present, also.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Chairman Millington read the proposed ordinance changing the
Committee to a commission, as drawn up by City Attorney Mansfield
and the Chairman.

MSC that the ordinance be accepted without alteration, and that
it be presented to the city council.at the next meeting of that body.

Mr. o. S. Oleson presented the topic of the recreation center,
and asked what progress had been made. Mr. Werder said that a pre-
liminary, unofficial investigation of possible sites revealed the
Lenolt Tract and acreage of the O'Dea Estate south of Chestnut St.
near Bayshore Hwy. were probably the only available, suitable sites.
He suggested that the O'Dea property was the most logical, since 20
acres could. be secured. at a reported price of $10,000. Involved
ownership of the Lenolt Tract might. make that site phohibitive, he
said. .

'-.-/

After much discussion, . Chairman Millington suggested that since
the city budget is to be presented to the council My IS, the committee
should have ready at that time a budget proposal that would 'include

an e~enditure for a center site. ~ s~gested ~at a coEttee be

, , . .

.,. . --", ,.-.. ..
