He asked that the ruling be passed in order to protect sponsors of teams, who hesitate to spend money for suits every year, and that it be passed to apply to all future seasons. After some discussion it was decided that rather than take the "initiative in the affair, the commission should let the. softball managers' association present such a recommendation to the commission for approval. Director Morton introduced a request from the Redwood City Post Office softball team to be allowed to schedule games on Sunday morn- ing at Hawes Park. Considerable discussion.fo1lowed. ' . MSC that no teams be allowed to schedule any regular games on Sunday morning at Hawes Park, in order to prevent any conflict with' church attendance. This ruling was 'not to curtail Sunday afternoon games at the park, nor was it to prohibit informal practice at the park on Sunday mornings. Approval was voiced 'by the conunission of ëi plan by Mr. Morton to establish a softball injury fund, which would be partly 'contri~ buted to by players and partly by the city and which would insure at least part payment of medical expenses of any softball player hurt in league play at Hawes Park. Mr. ~Morton was asked to continue his investigation into the matter, with an eye to-setting up the fund. for 1940. Participation in a municipal dance during the Spring Festival " . . .
