Redwood City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
Department Parks and Facilities Needs Assessment
TASK 1 — PROJECT INITIATION
Task 1.1: Project Initiation and Kick -Off
MIG will meet with the City to initiate the project, review the project scope and schedule
and begin initial data collection activities.
Deliverable: Meeting agenda, brief memorandum summarizing key activities, list of initial
data collection needs
Task 1.2: Parks and Recreation Facility Inventory Update
MIG will review the existing inventory and add information related to new parks and
facilities that have been added to the City since the last assessment and create an
updated Parks and Recreation Facility Inventory Update. Using a standardized approach,
MIG will visit and provide a general assessment of the park and recreation facility
conditions.
The information will be updated by park type including park acreage and update the
inventory of facilities. The geographic analysis will include an updated evaluation of the City's
park service areas based on a network methodology that is calibrated to reflect the reality
on the ground and incorporates a fine-grained understanding of the actual routes that
park and recreation users traverse to reach parks. MIG will review the City's GIS data
and modify the maps as needed. The map is a critical tool in helping to identify
underserved areas since access is a key factor in helping determine who can use a park.
Deliverable: Review of park inventory data and GIS maps, modifications to GIS maps as
needed to reflect actual circumstances
Task 2.2: Demographic Update/Trends Analysis
Page 10 of 14
ATTY/AGR/2017.291/MIG, INC PARK NEEDS ASSESSMENT
REV: 12-13-17 JS
