Presentation of a "Certificate of Appreciation to the City Council" from the California <br /> State Assembly, for efforts in expanding high-quality, affordable child care in San <br /> Mateo County; <br /> (continued from 12/10/01) <br /> <br /> Council Member Ruskin explained that he had the pleasure of accepting some awards given <br /> to Redwood City. Thc County of San Mateo gave awards to South San Francisco and <br /> Redwood City recognizing them for their tireless efforts to expand access to high quality, <br /> affordable child care in San Marco County. He stated that the City has been recognized for <br /> leadership in seeking ways to increase opportunities for high quality childcarc. <br /> <br /> In addition to that award, Council Member Ruskin stated the City received a Certificate of <br /> Appreciation from the California State Assembly signed by Assemblyman Joc Simitian. He <br /> stated his pleasure in presenting to the Council in that the Council has worked very hard as <br /> pioneers in forging public and private partnerships. He noted that specific reference to the <br /> Redwood Shores public/private partnership for a childcare facility along with the hotel to be <br /> built was made by the County.
