<br />291 <br /> <br />REDV{OOD CIT'Y PARK AND RECREATION COM~lISSION <br />May 6th 1953 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETI~IG of tIle Park and Recreation Commission was held at the <br />City Hall, in the Council Chambers, Wednesday, May 6th, 19~3. <br />The meeting was called to oeder by Chdroan H.S. Stout at 7:40 P,M. <br />Those present were Commissioners William Hanley, Irving Gold, Fred <br />Hector, Ralph Case, Elouise Campbell and Catherine Brennan. <br /> <br />MSC by Commissioners Hanley and Campbell tha t tl1e minutes of the April <br />meeting be approved as mailed with one correction. (In the remark <br />of Stout the word ~with" be inèerted.) <br /> <br />COMMISSIO}ŒR Hector reported on the LeNolt proposed playground and stated <br />that this matter was brought up on the Council Floor. Mayor Granger <br />appointed a committee to investigate the area rejected by the <br />Recreation Commission and also study other areas in this locality. <br />Chalman Stout made a request to CoMci~an Royer that ~en a <br />survey is needed he should contact him. <br /> <br />A REPORT was made by Commissioner Hector on Future Playground Developments <br />for the city when he stated that on Aprill2th members of the <br />Commission including Commissfoners Hanley, Brennan, C~mpbell, Stout <br />and himself' visited Stulsaft Park. Commissioner Hector stated that <br />Larry Wise of the Planning C~ission advised him of additional <br />acreage on the north side of the park site in the vicinity of Mud <br />Lake. He stated that Mr. Wise expects a tentative sub-division map <br />to be presented in the immediate future by the sub-divider. <br />Commissioner Hector thought it advisable to recommend the acquisition <br />of some 10--15 acreas in this area. Commissioner Hanley felt that - <br />additional acreage would add a groat deal to the present park site. <br />According to Commissioner llector the first priorty should be the Mud <br />Lake area. Commissioner Bold stated that the sub-divider suggested <br />that this area should be given careful study due to the present <br />school development in Redwood City. <br /> <br />PERSONAL APPEARk~CES....Mrs. C.G.Crawford and Mrs. Frank Archibald <br />eppeared before the Commission requesting information on present <br />Teen-Age Recreation Program. Recreation Director Alfred Morton <br />pointed out that a tremendous program is now being studied and will <br />be presented to the High School Board of Trustees in the immediate <br />future. He stated that a similar program which is now being <br />coordinated with the Elementary Schools will be introduced to the <br />Trustees. Approval has already been granted by the Physical <br />Education men at Sequoia, Carlmont and Menlo-Atherton to the <br />development of this program and the City Recreation Department <br />of Menlo Perk has offered the use of their facilities when this <br />Teen-Age program is set up. Chairman Stout requested the visiting <br />Committee to forward him a copy of the recent survey of recreational <br />needs made by the Sequoia P.T.A. <br />Mr. Jerry Verssen representing the Woodside Terrace Improvement <br />Club a~ked about the status of the Maddux Proposed play area. <br />Chairman Stout reported that considerable study has been made by <br />the Commission and City Council and through considerable study they <br />felt that additionallBnd was needed in this fast growing area. <br />He stated that he and Commissioner Hector after considerable study <br />drew up a letter and presented it to the City Council; their <br />recomme11dations were received. quj te well by the Ci ty Council and <br />were to be held over until their next meeting. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />t,-, <br />", <br />",; <br />. :- <br /> <br />,:' <br />,o.:~; <br />. :'~~, <br />"~ <br />, ,::,1 <br />:ì:, <br />:" <br />,:::.; <br /> <br />,':::'; <br />, .;~ <br />.,,;,1 <br />
