A1r. Spinas <br />has retired fr~ the C~ission after giving fifteen years of service. <br />Motion seconded and carried by Commissioners Gold and Campbell that <br />a vote of appreciation for Mr. Spin as's outstanding work be record- <br />ed in the minutes with a note that a good time was had by all at <br />the banquet. ~e dinner ~der the direction of Co~issioner Ralph <br />Case was attended by all ~e~ers of the C~~~~~: Chairoan Md <br />Mrs. Hiram Stout, Vice Chairman and Mrs. ~ ~ampbell B.nd thèir <br />husbands, Commissioner and Mrs. William Hanley, Commissioner and <br />Mrs. Ralph Case; Superintendent of Parks Pasco Balzarini and <br />Superintendent of Recreation and Mrs. Alfred Morton. <br /> <br />Past members of the Commission present were: County Supervisor <br />and Ex-mayor William Werder, Wayne Millington, Mr. and Mrs. Hagan, <br />Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Van Gundy now of Redding, Mr. and Mrs. Donald <br />Bogie, Mrs. Helen Clark and Mrs. Anna Bennett Robb. <br /> <br />Others present included: Mrs. Andrew Spinas, Mayor Floyd <br />Granger, ~ouncl~en Sidney Herkner, Willi~ Royer, and Robert <br />Spillers; City Manager E.A. Rolison, and Mr. Robb, son of Mrs. <br />Robb. <br /> <br />Mr. Spinas was presented with fishing gear as a token of <br />appreciation for his work on the City Commission. <br /> <br />Motion second and carried that a letter of complaint be sent <br />to the Redwood City Tribune stating that, in the opinion of the <br />Commission in several recent instances information of interest to <br />the City residents has been deleted from news items submitted on <br />the subje ct:'.~of Parks and Recreation. <br /> <br />Mr. Len Tornellinfo~ed the ~~ission of the eight-page <br />monthly paper prepared by the Westwood Terrace Improvement Club. <br />Co~~issioner Campbell was instructed by Chairman Stout to assist <br />,Mr. Tornell in Disseminating Park and Recreation information. <br /> <br />The first Redwood City quarterly Recreation Progr~ anno~ce- <br />ment was presented the Commission. This announcement is to be <br />distr.ibuted to all school children A.nd be available at, the swimming <br />pool throughout the summer. <br /> <br />Motion second Rnd carried by Commissioners Hanley and Brennan <br />that the minutes of the Special Meeting of April 18 be accepted as <br />corrected. <br /> <br /> Chairman Stout reviewed the joint corom! ttee' meeting of lVlay <br />27 on the subject of p~ocuring neighborhood park acreage at Maddux- <br />-Massachusetts site. ¡hose present were: the Council Real. <br />Estate CĹ“mittee c~posed of Coooci~en Herkner and Hoyer, Planning <br />Co~issioner Grenwald,~d Park and Recreation C~issioners Stout, <br />Gold, Hanle¡ and Hector.
