A <br />second meeting on this subject was held June 2 at the School board <br />meeting room, school head-quarters. As well as school~boB~rd mem ~ <br />the Park and Recreation Commission was represented by ~ornmissioners <br />Stout and Hectorj other City officers present were Councilman <br />Herknerf Planning C~issioners Britschif Grenwaldf and Joeston. <br />Co~~issioner Stout reiterated the need of a good park for the neigh- <br />borhood and Commissioner Hector cited the advantage of the area in <br />question over the alternate site suggested at the Menlo Park Country <br />Club. At this meeting the School Board voted to choose the Maddux <br />site in spite of having 'been faced wit~ emphatic criticism from the <br />floor. <br /> <br />Commissioner He ctor reported that the three impro'Jement clubs, <br />directly concerned with the new park area had just notified him <br />that they~could meet with members of tho Commission, Council and <br />Planning Lommission on the evening of Wednesday, June 10. Commis sioner Hector <br />was instructed by Chairman Stout to keep in touch with the group and <br />notify the Commissio~ of the date selected. Mrs. Ella Coyle, repre- <br />senting the Highland-s Improvement Club stated she vvould conlley the <br />information to her group. Agenda. <br /> <br />Park SuDe rintendent ,Balzarini sllbmi tted a wri t ten report on the <br />disposi tion of the 1944 bond issue moneys. A balance of only $~.75.11 <br />was noted. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hanley reported on the school grounds committee <br />developments. He reviewed his meeting on May 30 with representatives <br />of the school and Friendly Acres Improvement Club at the Taft School. <br />A si te was agreed upon B.t the North-east corner of the school groUllds <br />as suited to City playground intallations. The site is 100 feet by <br />19O feet and unturfed. Motion seconded and carried by Hanley and Gold <br />that a letter be sent-to the Council recommending that the City enter <br />into and and agreement with the Redwood City ElementRry School dis- <br />trict mutually agreed, the City to retain ownership of such equipment. <br />An example of a need for such arrangement was cited at the Taft <br />School. There are no neighborhood playgrounds in this part of the City <br />and no site has been found for such playground. The precident of the <br />City of OaklRnd in this type of agreeMent was also noted, information <br />on this ha,ving been previousl~T been suomi tted by Su?erintendent of <br />Recreation Morton.
