<br />(4) <br /> <br />Commissioner Hanley reported on the confe~ence he held with <br />Ralph Shaw, San Mateo County Director of Parks and Recreation, on the <br />subject of the use of County facilities. Mr. Shaw informed him that <br />San Francisco organizations "book u!,'t Flood and Sharp Parks often, but <br />that he attempts to give priority to within-County groups. Mr. Shaw <br />offered his services and those of ~is staff to a~sist Redwood City <br />with all new facilities. Mr. Shaw's opinion is that no consultant is <br /> <br />. .j.. <br /> <br /> <br />needed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hanley brought UD the poison oak control issue re- <br />ferrlng to cost estimates in the Council minutes of May 11. Chairman <br />Stout reiterated his previous opinion that the poison oak control <br />problem was basically one of health and should be arranged by the <br />Health Department. Carrying out the control he expects to be a func- <br />tion of the weed abatement program. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hector brought to attention the gifts of citizens <br />of the City such as the fence installed by Mr. Peter Sorensen at <br />Community Park and expressed his concern as to whether such gifts <br />have acknowledged in all cases. Chairman Stout instructed the Secre- <br />tary to write a letter of appreciation to ìvlr. SorenAen including an <br />apology for our tard.ines s re suI tlng from bein[; uninformed of hi s <br />donation prior to the article in the Redwood City Tribune, also to <br />send a copy of the letter to the Council. <br /> <br />C'ommissioner Gold ci tad the point that the ne\v Ha-'~es toilet has <br />not been completed, a few items still being deficient. Agenda. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gold noted that next meeting date would conflict <br />wi th the Redwood City Rodeo. Motion, second, R:ld c8,rried by Hanley <br />and Gold that July 15 be the date of the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Chairman Stout brought up the suggestion that a "Little Be.sebal:L <br />~agoo" would be a valu~le additioo to the Recreatioo s~~le. Basic motion superceded by motion of Commissioner Gold with <br />second by Comm~ssioner Case to table the motion pending obtaining in- <br />fo~ation on teams already operating from Recreation Superintendent <br />~/iorton.
