REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />REGULAR MEETING, MARCH 2, 19~~ <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was <br />called to order by Vice-~a1~an Wil~i~ Hanley at 8:00 p.m, <br />Present: Catherine Brennan, Louise fornell, Gerry Verssen, William <br />HM1~, M~lce S~~z, Ole 01soo, md Alfred Morton. Also <br />present_Administrative Assistant Orrin Wendling. Noted absent: <br />IMing Gold, A~ Beals and Pasco Balzarini. <br /> <br />MSC by Gerry Vers~en and Maurice Schutz that the minutes of the <br />meeting of February 2 be approved as mailed. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Ralph Elliott, president of the lVestwood Terrace Improvement Club, <br />appeared before the Commis~ion to offer to the city in behalf of the <br />club, a drinking fountain and monies for playground equipment for <br />the turfed area of Hetch Hetchy, bordering on Carson Street between <br />Fernside and Westwood. A committee will be appointed from the Commission <br />,to meet with representatives of the Improvement Club to discuss <br />specific ideas before presenting the matter to the city council. <br /> <br />A letter was recUved fr~ City Manager Rolison, dated February 14, <br />advising that our communications regarding the purchase of the Baird <br />Lumber Comp-any property and ~. proposed lease to \¥idows t, Inc. have been <br />referred to the city council for study. <br /> <br />Mr. Oleson advised that because of bad weather, the hazard at <br />, Community Park has not been corrected by San Francisco Water'Company. <br /> <br />The collection of names and addresses with regard to Union Cemetary <br />is continueing, according to Mr. Oleson. <br /> <br />Chai~an Hanley advised that negotiations for the Hawes Park switch <br />are continuing. A letter was received from the Highlands Community <br />Club by the ci ty council, a copy of which was sent to tIle CoIn1J1i s sion, <br />asking that a portloq of the money received fr~ the sale of hawes <br />Park land be used for recreational facilities in that area. <br /> <br />A copy of the letter fr~ M. D. McCarl dated February 4 to Ralph <br />Dodge was forwarded to the Commission by the city clerk. Attached <br />was a copy of a plan showing a proposed yacht club reserve. A . <br />meeting was held this afternoon, prior to ,the Commission meeting <br />with representatives fr~ the city cooocll, port c~iss1on, park <br />and recreation commission and Sequoia Yacht Club. ¡he proposed <br />master plan of the Port C~issionwas rejected. Further study mll <br />be given this matter by all concerned. ' <br /> <br /> <br />
