This could include <br />adopting the “Vision Zero” framework1, an approach adopted by many cities <br />around the world which seeks to eliminate all fatalities and serious injuries while <br />increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility, and prioritizing projects in <br />neighborhoods whose residents have a low socioeconomic status. <br />· Consider reducing the number of performance measures and/or weighting them <br />· Include “carrots and sticks” to decrease driving alone <br />· Expand education and encouragement activities to increase biking <br />· Invest in sidewalks, landscape maintenance, and streetlights to increase walking <br /> <br />Recommended Changes for Final Plan <br />Based on feedback received to date, staff is recommending the following modifications <br />to the draft Plan: <br /> <br />· Add a goal to eliminate all traffic-related fatalities by 2030 <br />· Add weights to performance measures <br />· Fine tune the bicycle backbone network <br />· Refine project list, including adding projects identified during the outreach <br />· The final document will include the Transportation Demand Management Plan <br />(currently listed as Appendix E, but not yet complete) <br />These recommendations have not yet been incorporated into the Draft Plan.
