REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />February 12, 2018 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Amendment No. 2 to Amended and Restated Agreement for Professional Services with <br />Shums Coda & Associates, Inc. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve, and authorize City Manager to execute Amendment No. 2 to <br />Amended and Restated Agreement for Professional Services with Shums Coda & <br />Associates, Inc. in the amount of $200,000 (for a total of $1,081,000) for building <br />inspection and plan review services <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />In November 2014, the City issued a request for proposals (RFP) for building <br />inspection and plan review services. At the July 27, 2015 meeting, the City Council <br />approved the execution of professional service agreements with Shums Coda & <br />Associates, Inc. (Shums Coda) and several other consultant firms to perform plan <br />check review and building inspection services for the Building Division and Fire <br />Department to augment the capacity of City staff. The original contract amount with <br />Shums Coda was for $81,000. <br /> <br />Following the original Agreement, City Council has also approved the following <br />agreements and amendments with Shums Coda: <br /> <br />· May 9, 2016: Amended and Restated Agreement for Professional Services to <br />refine the process for assigning plan review and increase the agreement amount <br />by $500,000. <br />· May 22, 2017: Amendment No. 1 to Amended and Restated Agreement for <br />Professional Services extended the term and increased the contract amount by <br />$300,000. <br /> <br />This current request is for a proposed Amendment No. 2 to Amended and Restated <br />Agreement for Professional Services to increase the contract amount by another <br />$200,000 for an aggregate amount of $1,081,000. <br />6.1.C. - Page 1
