The City is excited about the potential this project has to
improve mobility and reduce congestion on the Dumbarton Bridge corridor between Alameda, San
Mateo and Santa Clara counties. At the same time, we want to make sure that this project not only
improves our region’s transportation system, but also improves the quality of life for Redwood City
residents.
With that in mind, the purpose of this letter is to outline several requests should the District initiate the
study recommendations. The requests fall into three categories: the City’s role in the decision making
process, initial topics to include in the study, and a request for reimbursement.
City Review and Role in the Decision Making Process
To date, the City has been informed of project decisions at key milestones, which has been appreciated.
Moving forward, to ensure the success of future work, the City of Redwood City and other affected local
agencies must be active participants in the technical and outreach work and in the decision-making
process. Therefore, the City requests:
• A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) be formed and meet on a regular basis. This TAC would be
most effective if it included staff members from four key jurisdictions: East Palo Alto, Menlo Park,
Redwood City, and San Mateo County; and
• A Policy Advisory Committee be formed and meet on an occasional basis to provide higher-level
feedback. We recommend that the (PAC) be formed with elected officials from East Palo Alto, Menlo
Park, Redwood City, and San Mateo County.
Initial Topic Areas to Include in the Study
6.1.D. - Page 5
