<br /> Printing: BFI will print educational materials on recycled paper with a minimum of 20% post <br /> consumer content and will use reasonable business efforts to print educational material on paper <br /> containing the highest levels of recycled content material. <br /> PUBLIC EDUCATION PLAN <br /> Components of Public Education Proe:ram <br /> BFI will provide public education to all segments ofthe customer base. <br /> Method for Developing Materials <br /> BFI will collaborate with the SBWMA on behalf of the member jurisdictions on all our <br /> methodologies and will seek staff approval prior to distribution. The frequency of our public <br /> education material will be determined by the needs within the community. <br /> The following are examples of some ofBFI's current and planned public education outreach: <br /> Recycling Guides <br /> Recycling Guides will be distributed during the delivery of the new carts and any future <br /> residential starts will receive a Guide when they begin service. These Guides provide all the <br /> necessary information needed to provide a successful recycling system to the residents of these <br /> Cities. <br /> The development of the guides will be coordinated with SBWMA for implementation. <br /> Method for Distributing Materials <br /> A variety of methods are used for distributing educational materials including: <br /> . Direct mail to customers <br /> . Brochures and notices left on the customers containers <br /> . Billing inserts and messages <br /> . Public service announcements (newspaper, radio and public access TV) <br /> . Targeted mail <br /> . Posters, fliers and brochures placed at City facilities <br /> . Community events <br /> . Speaking engagements throughout the city <br /> Outreach to Schools through School Tours at the Recyclery <br /> BFI will make staff available to conduct comprehensive tours to schools within the SBWMA. <br /> Our solid waste and recycling staff will perform tours of the recycling facility to educate students <br /> on diversion programs. Our assistance and expertise will be offered in an effort to: <br /> . Develop action plans for rolling out new programs <br /> . Distribute bins for collection <br /> . Assist with assemblies and classroom presentations <br /> . Demonstrate recycling collection vehicle at schools <br />
