Mr. Morton reported that" 'he. talked <br />with Mr. Claypool, Principal of Sequoia and they ape willing to, - do <br />everything they possible can to help. Mr. Claypool referred Mr. . <br />Morton to Mr. Jerry Williams of the School Park Department for the' <br />more detailed~information of when and what fields could be used. It <br />was dropped from the agenda until April when definite dates will be <br />set up for the ,summer use of the fields. <br /> <br />Item #5 - Tree Planting. Alyn Beals read a letter received from the <br />City Manager. The letter stated t~hat the Ci ty received approval and <br />the permit from the Sta,te to gp ahead W,ith the tree planting along <br />the EI Camino Real. In the next year or year and half this project <br />will be completed. <br /> <br />....-.,.. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> <br />... . <br /> <br />It was moved and seconded that a letter be written to each of the <br />P. T. A. groups and Su~erintendent of Schools and Broad of Education <br />to show our appreciation ,of their effort in preventing plans of <br />road through Community Park. <br /> <br />A ~letter was read ,by Chairwoman ~ouise Tornell from the 'Redwood Civic' <br />Players from the P~estdent E. Z. Stokes. They thanked the Co~ssion <br />for their effort in having their group sponsored by the Recreation <br />Departmen~ but, due to the fact that it was brought be~ore the <br />Veterans Commission at a late date they were willing to go on operat- <br />in a,s an independent gr_oup for the present time. <br /> <br />Parkdale was discussed and Pasco B~zarini reported that the Fire <br />Department recommended that a service road be put in now. Commissioner <br />. Gold moved that, the surne of $150.00 be allocated from the Stulsaft <br />Park fund to put i~ this road. It,was seconded by Commissioner B~a~s. <br />Also, that letter be written to the City Manage~ a~ City Council. <br /> <br />New Business <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />A. lengthy discussion t oak place in regards _to the baseball fiel..ds <br />at Hawes Park and Community Park ftnd the school f~elds withi~_the Ci~y <br />Limits. An estimated amount of'$12,000 was arrived upon at a meeting <br />with the Recreation and Yark Department and Lead-ers of the Little <br />Leagues for the improvements of Goodwin, Roosev..elt and McKinley, <br />Schools fie'lds and three' diamonds ,at.. Community and Hawes Park. It was <br />debated upon as to whether this money if obtained Should be put <br />into tqeextended development of Stuls aft Park or towards, the im- ~ <br />provements of baseball Dields. Commissioner Beals moved and Com- <br />missioner Knecht seconded tqe moti~on to have this pres.ented to the <br />Council at this time for action.' <br /> <br />:':'- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Commissioner Schutz suggested a special meeting take place ßefore <br />this matter is presented to the Council for a complete discussio~ 'and <br />then make a request to the City Council from the Recreation Depart- <br />ment through the Little Leagues and ~abe Ruth League. <br /> <br />~ <br />l <br /> <br />, <br /> <br /> <br />'J. <br /> <br />"" <br /> <br />Jim Slobodian brought up the matter of what is to become of the land <br />at 2nd and Broadway, is it to be deve¡oped or not.
