Sugarman .who reslgned from the Park and Recreatlon Commlsslon. <br /> <br />,e.' <br />..:~" . <br />y.. <br /> <br />~~., <br />1" , <br />r'..' <br />'" <br />f <br />~: <br /><' . . <br /> <br />A letter from the City Council stating that Commissioner Maurice Schutz <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />will be excused from the November and December meetings due to an assign- <br />ment with the United States Navy in Panama. <br /> <br />MSC by Doris Thompson and Maurice Schutz that the Commission send a <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />letter to Stan Sugarman regreting his leaving the Commission and wish- <br />ing him success in his new field of endeavor. <br /> <br /> <br />Recreation Director Alfred Morton reported that Councilman William <br />Royer will report his findings on the Friendly Acre Recreation Facili- <br />ties at the meeting of the City Council on Monday, October 19, 1964. <br /> <br />Art Eskelin, City of Redwood City Traffic Engineer, reported on the re- <br />routing of Valota Road. He stated that the Traffic Bureau has worked <br />on this project for a long time and recommends that they want to route <br />the traffic through a section of Community Park via .St. Francis Street. <br />Hel also stated that the excessive cost to route the traffic via Quartz <br />Street makes it less desirable and the Park route is much more feasible <br />financially speaking. <br /> <br />Commission Chairman James Knecht stated that the Commission does not <br />want any park land taken away. Mr. Eskelin stated that the Traffic <br />Bureau will hold a meeting on November 5, 1964, at 9:00 a.m. regarding <br />the Va lot a Road route and the Commissioners will be welcome to attend <br />this meeting and voice their opinions. <br /> <br />Letter from City Manager James Neal, dated October 5, 1964, regarding <br />the Community Park Creek project. It is the City Manager's hope that <br />the Bond Issue slated for February would be passed and this project <br />coulâ be completed. Chairman Knecht appointed Commissioner Alyn Beals <br />with Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton to obtain costs for covering <br />the creek. <br /> <br />MSC by Commissioners Whitmore and Schutz that a letter be sent to the <br />City Manager requesting three estimates on covering the creek. <br /> <br />A report on the speed traps at Community' Park area was made. <br />Manager James Neal stated that this job would be done. <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />A report on the Baird Property Plan will be put on the November agenda <br />in order that the Park Superintendent and Recreation Director may meet <br />with the City Manager regarding park and recreation uses of the land. <br />Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini reported that Eucalyptus trees <br />will be removed by next week. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Doris Thompson requested that the Rose Garden be dropped <br />from the agenda for the present time and be put back on for the ~rch <br />Meeting in 1965. <br /> <br />.
