<br />4 <br /> <br />Mrs. Travers asked why money was not spent <br />On Stafford Park if it was appropriated~ <br />Commissioner Tornell said that Commission <br />can not spend money until Council approves <br />plan for Stafford Park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thompson asked if Commission could write to City <br />Manager asking about Stafford Park, asking why we took it <br />off the Agenda, and stating that we now have a personal <br />appearance wondering what happened to it, and if they are <br />going to have a meeting to discuss the park. <br /> <br />Progress Report on Park & Recreation Committee on over-all future <br />Planning for Park & Recreation acquisition. <br /> <br />Discussion on whether a professional should be hired to help <br />on over-all Park & Recreation. <br /> <br />Commissioner Whitmore stated he thinks we should hire a pro- <br />fessional planning assistant to look over the plans of the <br />Park & Rec reation Commission, if it would help getting this <br />up before the Council. Commissioner Thompson stated she is <br />in favor of hiring an outside professional. Commissioner <br />Whitmore stated that it seems strange that we should hire a <br />professional when we have a Park & Recreation Commission to <br />do the work. Red Morton suggested retaining Stanford Univ- <br />ersity students to help, and states they are capable of lay- <br />ing these plans out, and that they can work with Commission. <br />Commissioner Beals stated he would like to see outside help. <br />come in to help on this Committee. Commissioner Stuart <br />stated he does net think we should obtain anyone to help <br />right now, that we are not ready yet. <br /> <br />Mrs. Travers appeared again to say that <br />she thinks we ought to get outside help, <br />and maybe it would speed up some of the <br />Commission's plans. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thompson made comments on the need for future devel- <br />opments of Recreation facilities for Redwood City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht commented that Commission should develop <br />facilities that we have and to hire a consultant to bring <br />this matter to a point that is feasible. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thompson moved to defer action on this matter until <br />the February meeting, seconded by Commissioner Stuart and <br />carried. <br /> <br />Progress Report on what has been accomplished to comply with re- <br />quest of insurance companies on hazards throughout City Parks. <br /> <br /> <br />--" ~._.._..- <br /> <br />.._-------~- <br /> <br /> <br />-". <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />
