<br />15 <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Tornell stated that Commission doesn't have any <br />specifications to work with, and that if two Park & Recreation <br />men get together, two di fferent ideas wil.l come up. <br /> <br />Lengthly discussion on contacting Sterling Winans. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Tornellleft meeting at 8:30, excused by Chairman Beals. <br /> <br />It was suggested that Commissioners Thompson, Whitmore and <br />Stuart visit City Manager to discuss what he thinks Commiss- <br />ion ought to do about contacting a Recreation planner, and <br />what he advises as far as timing and funds. <br /> <br />REPORT ON HETCH-HETCHY RIGHT OF WAY ADJACENT TO FERNSIDE: <br /> <br />Red Morton stated he went out and looked at this area and <br />came to conclusion that it is not feasible to develop a park <br />area in that vicinity. Mr. MOrton will meet with Mr. Samuel <br />Avlakeotes, sponsor of the petition and report his findings <br />at the May meeting. <br /> <br />REDWOOD SHORES: <br /> <br />Chairman Beals stated he talked with Assistant City Manager <br />about Redwood Shores. Discussion held on different plans <br />that have been presented on Redwood Shores. <br /> <br />TREE P !ANT I NG ON WHI P P LE : <br /> <br />City Manager gave Bill Shewry authority to go ahead on this <br />project. Mr. Shewry stated the cost of planting the trees on <br />Whipple Ave. will be $335.00. He is to report back to the <br />City Manager on the cost. <br /> <br />COMMENTS FROM THE PARK & RECREATION DIRECTORS AND COMMISSIONERS <br />PERTAINING TO OLD OR NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion of 4ger Field. It continuously holds water in <br />the center, and City is contemplating repairing same. <br /> <br /> <br />Each year the field has been top-dressed and re-seeded. A <br />new field was proposed and the estimated cost was approxi~ <br />mately $34, 000. -- A new plan is presently being worked on for. <br />the installation of a drain field, at a greatly reduced cost. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart asked if this is supposed to take place <br />before we get an o.k. on our authority on the Creek Covering. <br />The answer was yes: this will be taken into consideration. <br /> <br />Discussion on IIRules & Regulations - Park & Recreation Comm- <br />ission".
