Chairman Beals ex-
plained that years ago the Planning Dept. wanted something
like this, but would lose more land this way, and at the
present time, Commission wants a complete covering of the
creek. '

Councilman Granger visited Commission.

CONSIDERATION OF A CONSULTANT FOR PREPARATION OF A MASTER PLAN FOR
REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION FACILITIES:

Commissioner Thompson explained results of a meeting held
in City Manager1s office pertaining to future acquisitions.
Mr. Neal stated that he thought the only possible way to do
this would be on a bond issue. Commissioner Thompson pre-
sented a survey on how to go about getting a park acquis-
ition. She explained that Mr. . Sterling S. Winans, Recrea-
tion Planner and Consultant, is a very highly qualified
man. When talking with Commissioner Thompson, 'Mr. Winans
suggested that 25 or 30 interested people go out into the
neighborhood and promote. Commissioner Thompson said that
we- would have to find out just what Mr. Winans' fee would
be for this.

Red Morton stated the Commission should decide whether we
want full surveyor part survey, then write a letter to the
City Manager and tell him money should be allocated for this
project.

Commissioner Stuart asked if there were other Recreational
Planners that may be just as good as Mr. Winans. Mr. Morton
stated Sterling Winans has the best qualifications. Mr.
Stuart feels that we should look around before deciding so quickly.

~" .

. ~_._.

(

\ '-',

,";/' ,'~' \:" '
