<br />l.S <br /> <br />COMMENTS FROM PARK & RECRFATION COMMISSIONERS, PARK SUPERINTENDENT, <br />RECRFATION DIRECTOR PERTAINING TO OLD OR NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion of plot of ground - property at Hilton and Elm <br />Streets, four blocks from Chestnut Street. This property is <br />going to be put up for sale. Commissioner Beals suggested we <br />write the City Manager letter, with map attached, and suggest <br />having a Real Estate Committee of the Council look at the <br />property. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thompson complimented Park Superintendent, Rec- <br />reation Director, Sally Hartman and Don Dimitratos for the <br />wonderful cooperation and the enthusiastic way their depart- <br />ment helped with the annual flower and art show held at the <br />Veterans Building; and that possibly next year it can be held <br />Friday, Saturday and Sunday. <br /> <br />Discussion on water faucet facilities at William Goggin <br />Parkway. <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht stated the purchase of land adjacent to <br />Taft School should stay before the Commission and some plans <br />should be made to continue with this project. <br /> <br />Chairman Beals said he felt a master plan for the development <br />of the beautification of Veterans Blvd. should be developed <br />and presented to the Commission. Motion was made by Commiss- <br />ioner Thompson that Mr. Balzarini be requested to develop <br />such a plan, seconded by Jack stuart, and carried. <br /> <br />Chairman Beals appointed Jasper Sipes to serve as. the Park <br />& Recreation Commission representative on the Redwood City <br />Marina Committee. <br /> <br />MOtion made by Doris Thompson that the Commission write lett- <br />er of protest to City Manager and the City Council objecting <br />to the continued refusal of the City to recognize the need <br />of funds to be used for the development of Stulsaft Park, sec- <br />onded by Louise Tornell and carried. <br /> <br /> <br />MOtion made by Commissioner Knecht that a letter be written <br />to the City Council recommending that the new field house for <br />the San Francisco 4gers be dedicated as the Morabito Memorial <br />Field House in honor of the late Anthony and Victor Morabito, <br />seconded by Commissioner Whitmore, and carried. <br /> <br />Motion made by Doris Thompson that Mr. Red MOrton and Pasco <br />Balzarini consult with the city officials and the Real Estate <br />Commission to see if the Chestnut Street playground park could <br />not be sold and moved to a different location on Elm Street <br />near Hilton, seconded by James Knecht and carried. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br /> <br />'. , <br /> <br />___~..n.."---" "..~----,~_.., ......, .-oo,.,., .-- - .,.
