<br />22 <br /> <br />Noted absent and excused: <br /> <br />Robert Whitmore and Jack Stuart <br /> <br />Each commissioner was provided a copy of the 1965-66 City Budget. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE: ' <br /> <br />Letter from Redwood Civic Association and copy of their <br />letter to Council rebudgeted amount for IIAcquisition of <br />Park Land 81. <br /> <br />Letter from Sequoia Art Group requesting permission to pre- <br />sent outdoor exhibition of the work of its members in Welles- <br />ley Crescent Park, September 19, 1965. <br /> <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCES: <br /> <br />Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Beaumont appeared representing the Sequoia <br />Art Group. Motion by Mrs. Thompson to give permission to the <br />Art Group to~:use Wellesley Crescent Park for their September <br />19th art exhibition, seconded by Commdssioner Torne11 & passed. <br /> <br />The following appeared in regard to promoting a playground in <br />the Farm Hills Area of Stu1saft Park: <br /> <br />Mr. & Mrs. Dixon Arnett, Jane P. Ames, 3681 Farm Hill <br />Boulevard, Beverly Hoss, 3872 Autumn Drive. <br /> <br />Mr. Arnett read letter giving details of why a playground should be <br />built in this area. Mrs. Arnett showed illustrations of the kind <br />of playground equipment they would like installed in the park at an <br />estimated cost of $4,338.70. Park Superintendent Balzarini stated <br />an approximate cost of putting in concrete and sand would be $2,900. <br />Mr. Morton stated he is in favor of putting this equipment in, but <br />felt Friendly Acres deserves to be accommodated by installing a <br />playground first. Commissioner Knecht agreed with Mr. Morton. <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht suggested that Commission recommend to the City <br />Council that playground equipment also be put in Friendly Acres of <br />the same type requested for the Farm Hill Area. Mrs. Thomspn stat- <br />ed this equipment for Friendly Acres could be provided in the play- <br />ground at the rear of the Fire House No.3. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Knecht to approve these plans and recommend <br />to City Council they approve equal playground equipment to the <br />Friendly Acres and Farm Hill Area at an approximate cost of $7,500 <br />for each playground, seconded by Commdssioner Thompson and passed. <br /> <br />REDWOOD SHORES PROGRESS REPORT: <br /> <br />Project Manager, Howard Ullrich briefed Commdssion on the <br />progress of the Redwood Shores project.
