Mrs. Thompson said she <br />would check minutes to see who had been delegated respons- <br />ibility of presenting them to the City Manager for approval. <br /> <br />STAFFORD PARK PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT - Report by Pasco Balzarini <br /> <br />Mr. Balzarini reported that the installation of this equip- <br />ment has been completed. <br /> <br />STOP SIGNS <br /> <br />Mr. Balzarini and Mr. Morton stated that Stafford Park has <br />a problem wi th children crossing the street on'~;.Hopkins Ave. <br />at King Street because of heavy traffic. Commissioner <br />Tornell suggests that a letter be written to the Traffic <br />Bureau requesting that a study be made on types of signs <br />which could be placed at this crossing to slow down traffic. <br /> <br />COMMENTS FROM PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION, PARK SUPERINTENDENT, <br />RECREATION DIRECTOR PERTAINING TO OLD OR NEW BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Chairman Beals welcomed Doris Thompson back from her vaca- <br />tion. <br /> <br />The Inter Service-Club Signboard, under construction at El <br />Camino and Chestnut Street was discussed. Mr. Thompson in- <br />quired as to why Redwood City does not have adèquate sign- <br />ing and directions to its park areas. Chairman Beals ask- <br />ed her to look into the possibility of park signs. <br /> <br />Louise Tornell asked if the drinking fountain at Westwood <br />Park was to be installed soon. <br /> <br />James Knecht questioned Red Morton about the '4ger Scrim- <br />mage" as to whether or not Recreation Department will make <br />money from the scrimmage. Mr. Morton answered yes, but <br />that since this is taxpayers money, he would rather dis- <br />pense with taking kids from outlying areas, and use only <br />Redwood City children in the program. <br /> <br />Mr. Sipes stated that the old boat-launching ramp at Red- <br />wood City Marina is in'bad condition. It was questioned <br />as to whether there should be a charge to use the ramp, <br />since it is so old and delapidated. Mr. Morton thinksthe <br />present ramp should be fixed and the people who use it <br />should be charged. Mr. Sipes to bring this up at the next <br />Marina Committee meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Morton stated a going-away dinner is being planned for <br />Don Dimitratos for late September.
