He indicated a preliminary <br />appraisal price of $54,000. <br /> <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCES: <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Mr. Gene Koch appeared representing the, Juventes Soccer Club, <br />a semi-pro team in existence 8 years. He wanted a playing <br />field for Sundays during a season of September to May. Red <br />Morton said something might be worked out in back of Recrea- <br />tion Building for one night a week. Discu~sion followed on <br />field for games and McGarvey Field was suggested. Chairman <br />Beals said he ~ould like to see fields used whenever possible <br />but would go along with Mr. Morton's recommendation. Chair- <br />man Beals suggested that Red Morton and Pasco Balzarini try <br />to work out something with the soccer club, perhaps for next <br />year. Mr. Beals stated that Commission is interested in <br />soccer games for Redwood City but lack of bleachers is the <br />great problem, noting that only $1,300 had been allowed in <br />this year's budget for new ones (12 sections of 3 tier port- <br />able type, 10' long, seating approximately 250 people.) <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Planning Director Dick Wilkinson presented map of Farm Hills <br />area specifically noti~ a 2~ acres heaiily wooded area be- <br />longing to Mt. Alverno Convent as a possible park site as be- <br />ing recommended by the Planning Commission. He said Convent <br />is not interested in area becoming a park, their main object- <br />ion being they do not want anyone around the Convent. After <br />discussion, Commissioner Knecht moved that the Commission <br />look at the area before coming to a decision. Seconded by <br />Commissioner Whitmore and carried. Chairman Beals and Doris <br />Thompson will arrange for a tour some day after 11 a.m. Mr. <br />Wilkinson suggested that Commission could perhaps foster an <br />"open space projectll by providing hiking trails along creek <br />channels in the Hudson to El Camino areas between Jefferson <br />and Woodside Road and along south and west city areas incl- <br />ooed in ~t~ Hetchy ri~ts-of-way. ~ s~gested that ma~ <br />beautiful oak trees could be saved if creek sides were not <br />gunnited as is planned.
