<br /> <br />¥' <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.' 55' <br /> <br />r ' <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />two years would be requested and then the government would consider <br />participation only on 5~~ of this total. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER SIPES: Announced that Waterways Sub-committee of the <br />San Mateo County Regional Planning Committee at its December meeting <br />had approved the 1st draft of a report to the RFC which would include <br />plans to 1980, financing sources, etc. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER GOODING: Noted that City of Riverside-had applied for <br />Federal funds for a huge park: concurred that signs were badly need- <br />ed on Jefferson Avenue for directing to Community Park' facilities; <br />and presented a recreation brochure of San Carlos recreation prog- <br />ram which she considered offered many opportunities and varieties <br />in their program. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KNECHT: Stated that Hal Coehlo of R.C.Kiwanis had ask- <br />ed about progress on the IIkids" fishing pier at Marina. Mr. Morton <br />stated that he had talked wi th Mr. Mackenhausen at the Ma'rina bout <br />installing a pier made of 4x6' on the port side of the launching ~ <br />ramp. Mr. Knecht urged that something be done about this project <br />as soon as possible, as it had been discussed off and on for five <br />or ten years. Mr. Morton is to arrange a meeting with Councilman <br />Herkner, Commissioners Sipes and Knecht, and Mr. Coeh10 for Wed., <br />Jan. 12th at 11 a.m. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER WHITMORE: Asked if any information had been sent by the <br />City to the Resources Agency concerning matching funàs. Mr. Mee ad- <br />vised that this year's deadline had been moved up to Dec. 1, 1965, <br />and that City had no funds with which to match. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER THOMPSON - complimented Mr. Morton for the semi-perma- <br />nently bound minute book he had prepared for Park and Recreation Min- <br />utes of the last year and which will be kept up to date for the Comm- <br />ission by his staff and be made available at each Commission meeting: <br />reported that Mr. Balzarini had asked who would be attending the Cal- <br />if. State Park & Recreation Society meeting in Los Angeles March 5th <br />through 9th, so that reservations could be made, and noting that <br />funds were available for two commissioners to attend. Mrs. Thompson <br />"~as delegated to attend the full session and Mrs. Gooding was con- <br />sidering attending for a couple of days. <br /> <br />Mr. Morton will not be able to attend this year's meeting in LA but <br />there was the possibility of Bill Wooten going. He also said Sally <br />Hartman would like to attend if funds were available. <br /> <br />'1 <br /> <br />RECREATION DIRECTOR MORTON: Re San Carlos recreation program stated <br />that he had been instructed not to institute any new recreation pro- <br />grams because of costs involved and that new programs can be put in- <br />to operation only when money and buildings are available: that school <br />multi-purpose rooms are being used but that additional funds are <br />needed for instructor fees, janitor fees, etc. The only new program <br />instituted this year is a golf instruction class for women. <br /> <br />
