On motion of Commissioner <br />Knecht, seconded by Commissioner.Whitmore, and passed, it was voted <br />that a letter.be written to Mr. Ullrich indicating support of his <br />proposal and recommending that the City Council authorize develop- <br />ment' of a Master Plan for City Trees by the Park Dept. (3-9-66)/. <br /> <br />4. Dated Feb. 3, 1966, copy of letter to Mayor and City Council <br />concerning option to buy five lots adjacent to,Easter Bowl and city <br />water tanks for $14,500; and also requesting that Park and Recrea- <br />tion Commission be asked to include the Easter Bowl site in the <br />Winans' Itpark needs study" and suggesting the acquiring of addition- <br />al property along California Way to round out park site. As Comm- <br />ission meeting had been held on Feb. 2nd, and as the City Council <br />has since taken positive action for acquiring the five lots near <br />the city water tank~, no action was taken by the Commission. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> <br />5. Letter from Recreation Director Morton concerning request from <br />Junior Chamber of Commerce to hold a-soft ball game at Community <br />Park and charge admission. SEE NEW BUSINESS. <br /> <br />6. Letter from Mr. Morton re-naming of Friendly Acres playground - <br />"Andrew Spinas Playgroundll. SEE NEW BUSINESS. <br /> <br />7. Copies of Park Department budget requests for 1966-67 was pre- <br />sented to each Commissioner. Funds requested are for Street Tree <br />Master Plan: improvements-including replacement of equipment, plus <br />new facilities at Maddux Park, Stulsaft Park, Mezes Park, Commun- <br />ity Park, Westwood P~~k, Hetch Hetchy Park, Chestnut Park, and <br />Second Avenue Park; automatic sprinkler systems - 2 schools¡ and. <br />subdivision and assessment district tree planning. <br /> <br />8. Copies of agenda for Stulsaft Park playground dedication cere- <br />monies - March 13, 2 p.m., Commissioner Stuart, Chairman. <br /> <br />AGENDA: 1. REDWOOD SHORES - report by City Manager Ullrich: Mr. <br />Ullrich advised that Council had approved feasibility report and <br />had authorized issuing of first bonds: noted that lack of under- <br />standing by public on assessor issue was unfortunate; that coming <br />year work on project would be, on the ground in 1968: that project <br />may have more water oriented properties and that plans were being <br />considered for a large IIcontrolled water" lake: that Marine World <br />had 45 days from Feb. 28th to exercise their option. Chairman <br />Beals referred to plans for the golf course on Bair Island - golf <br /> <br />course was originally mentioned for Redwood Peninsulá - and ex- <br /> <br />
