Chairman Beals also asked Mr. Ullrich to care- fully watch the open space projects, especially in view of present thinking that not as many school sites would be needed, noting that parks and open space planning is closely tied in with school lands. Commissioner Stuart asked about possibility of putting the 35 more park site-now planned for Redwood Peninsula back to original loca- tion near end of Whipple Ave. Mr. Ullrich noted that 35 acre site planned for Redwood Peninsula was a completed park ~ncluding a swim- ing pool, etc., to be paid for completely by-the Redwood Shores pro- ject-that the Whipple avenue site was for land only. Mr. Ullrich stated that the City and the Leslie Properties Company are most aware of open space and park planning but that he would carefully watch the project concerning this. PARK SITE SUGGESTIONS: Mr. Ullrich re Easter Bowl site noted that staff suggests that Winans consider advisability of add- itional property adjacent to it: the lot next to the IIBaird Property" and Armory adjacent to Community Park; and~land adjacent to YMCA. Commissioner Thòmpson asked what 15-18 acre site had been nñofficially mentioned for a park. site and was advised that this property was be- tween the Elks Club and Junior College site. Chairman-Beals des-, cribed acreage as being of especially rough terrain and containing a number of springs and he felt would be very costly to develop¡ Mr. Ullrich stated thàt some Friendly Acres residents were seeking to have city retain all.of Second Avenue park property - between Bay and Broadw~y - for park use and that their request would prob- ably be considered by the Real Estate Committee, although the plans had been that city would sell most of this property in order to get monies to install swimming pool at Hoover School. The Commission was advised that the Real Estate Committee had tentatively approved the commission request to retain lot'-adjacent to partially completed playground for additional playground equipment and use. 10. STOP SIGNS HOPKINS AVE. & KING STOP SIGNS HOtKINS AVE. '-LOWELL: Mr. Balzarini said that Traffic Committee was supposed to discuss our request on Feb. 3rd but that he had not had an answer.
