Chairman Beals also asked Mr. Ullrich to care- <br />fully watch the open space projects, especially in view of present <br />thinking that not as many school sites would be needed, noting that <br />parks and open space planning is closely tied in with school lands. <br />Commissioner Stuart asked about possibility of putting the 35 more <br />park site-now planned for Redwood Peninsula back to original loca- <br />tion near end of Whipple Ave. Mr. Ullrich noted that 35 acre site <br />planned for Redwood Peninsula was a completed park ~ncluding a swim- <br />ing pool, etc., to be paid for completely by-the Redwood Shores pro- <br />ject-that the Whipple avenue site was for land only. Mr. Ullrich <br />stated that the City and the Leslie Properties Company are most aware <br />of open space and park planning but that he would carefully watch the <br />project concerning this. <br /> <br />(For convenience of discussion while Mr~ Ullrich was present, the <br />following Agenda items were discussed out of numerical order.) <br /> <br />AGENDA: 12. PARK SITE SUGGESTIONS: Mr. Ullrich re Easter Bowl site <br />noted that staff suggests that Winans consider advisability of add- <br />itional property adjacent to it: the lot next to the IIBaird Property" <br />and Armory adjacent to Community Park; and~land adjacent to YMCA. <br />Commissioner Thòmpson asked what 15-18 acre site had been nñofficially <br />mentioned for a park. site and was advised that this property was be- <br />tween the Elks Club and Junior College site. Chairman-Beals des-, <br />cribed acreage as being of especially rough terrain and containing <br />a number of springs and he felt would be very costly to develop¡ <br /> <br />Mr. Ullrich stated thàt some Friendly Acres residents were seeking <br />to have city retain all.of Second Avenue park property - between <br />Bay and Broadw~y - for park use and that their request would prob- <br />ably be considered by the Real Estate Committee, although the plans <br />had been that city would sell most of this property in order to get <br />monies to install swimming pool at Hoover School. The Commission <br />was advised that the Real Estate Committee had tentatively approved <br />the commission request to retain lot'-adjacent to partially completed <br />playground for additional playground equipment and use. <br /> <br />10. STOP SIGNS HOPKINS AVE. & KING <br />STOP SIGNS HOtKINS AVE. '-LOWELL: Mr. Balzarini said that <br />Traffic Committee was supposed to discuss our request on Feb. 3rd <br />but that he had not had an answer. Mr. Ullrich will check. <br /> <br />14.
