' PARK LAND ACQUISITION: Mayor Herkner suggested that Commission recommend securing of matching funds for'additional park land & open space7 Mayor Herkner said that he had been serving on the- ABAG'committee which has already processed over $60,000.00 of requests so far, he suggested that ,RedWood City should take ad= vantage of the matching funds program if possible and as soon as possible as funds may be running out. Commissioner Whitmore 'told of his'Land Acquisition Committee's report and recommendations for future park and open space pro- porty which had been sent to former City Manager Neal, following receipt of which Mr. Neal had urged'that a park and recreation master plan be secured as the first-step towards requesting matching funds. Mãyor Herkner said it is not necessary for city to have such a plan-- if plans are in a county plan and is elastic. - - - - Chairman Beals mentioned our recent recommendation for park land purchase~of property in the Canyon 'Road area which he understood City Manager Ullrich was working towards a tie in with County-- Park and Recreation plans. It was recommended that the Commission urge Mr. Ullrich to prepare proposals immediately for application to ABAG for matching funds.
