PARK SUPERINTENDENT - Monthly report dated Jan. 31, 1967, <br />of activities over and above usual Park Department activities. <br /> <br />Chairman Beals congratulated Secretary Doris Thompson for being <br />chosen the ItCitizen of the Yearn. Mrs. Thompson was accorded a <br />standing tribute by those present. <br /> <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCES: <br /> <br />1. RE RECREA TI ON ELEMENT TO THE GENERAL PLAN: <br />Mr. ~en Schroeter, Planning Director, at the request of Chair- <br />man Beals, presented recommendations for the "Recreation Ele- <br />ment ~o the General Plan which he had previously presented <br />to the Planning Commission. at its phblic hearings. <br />Mr. Schroeter's recommendations were from studies made from <br />information contained in the Winans Report (which included <br />recommendations-f rom the IICitizens Committees II) and IIPart <br />H of the proposed General Plan of the Redwood Shores area", <br />plus broadened, concise, and enhancing recommendations for <br />practi~al application of norms and goals, open space de- <br />ficiencies, recommendations, partial inventory of sp~cific <br />project possibilities and plan implementation, etc., for the <br />entire City-both lIolderll Redwood City and the presently un- <br />developed Redwood Shores portion. Mr. Schroeter used m~ps <br />and plans to illustrate his presentation. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Chairman Beals and the Commissioners complimented Mr. Sch- <br />roeter on his fine development of recommendations for liThe <br />Recreation Element of the General Plann both on his written <br />report (all Commissioners had received copies) and his per- <br />sonal presentation at tonights meeting,. Commissioners did <br />express concern over timing of receipt of the report and of <br />being uninformed over the 45 day time limit and suggested <br />that there could be better liasison between the Planning <br />Commission and the Park and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />No action was taken by the Commission on the approval of the <br />"Recreation Element of the General Planfl as Chairman Beals <br />explained the Commission wished to have a meeting with the <br />UCitizens Committeesll-after the above information was avail- <br />able to them, including maps before acting on it. Chairman <br />Beals asked when the report would be' ready (about ten days) <br />so that a meeting could be called with the IICitizens Comm- <br />ittees".
