Shores park plans as dis- <br />cussed at the December meeting and suggested that some of the "pa'rk n <br />areas proposed could not rightfully be called parks but would re- <br />quire costly maintenance. Mr. Stuart suggested that if we are go- <br />ing to use' the land bank concept we should utilize it to the full- <br />est and put it in a package that would do something worthwhile. <br />Discussion which followed included:' that, park land nex.t to a school <br />is of great value; beautification areas - landscaping-are important <br />and needed, but should not come out of land bank, park plans should <br />first come to the Park & Recreation Commission before b~ing present- <br /> <br />, ,. ' ' <br />ed to the Plann1ng Comm1SS1on for approval. <br /> <br />~CommisJ~~io1~e~- ß~pdiJ![ ~~quired on the $ta~us.of plans for a tennis <br />court at the Second Avenue and Bay Road (Andrew Spinas) playground? <br />Mr. Morton advised that set back would permit only one court at the <br />site at the present time and that plans had been drawn up for the one. <br /> <br />Discussion which followed included suggestions that some off-street <br />parking spaces be provided on the Second Avenue side, and landscap- <br />ing done between tennis court fence "and parking area. <br /> <br />On MOTION of Jack Stuart, seconded by Dixon Arnett, it was voted <br />to recommend approval of the Recreation Department tennis court <br />plans for the Second Avenue and Bay Road site 'and to recommend <br /> <br /> <br />. . . <br /> <br />that some off-street park1ng be prov1ded on the Second Avenue <br />side. Passed. <br /> <br />Pasco Bal~arinJ reported that first batch of roses had arrived <br />and woul"d be planted in a couple of weeks: and" that Veterans I <br />blvd. planter strip - north entrance to City - would soon be <br />completely landsc~ped. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 11:35 p.m. <br /> <br />DORIS C.
