<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Cormnissioner Knecht suggested re-juvenating of recreation <br />center with ice-skating rink and skating rink. <br /> <br />- ~ ~ <br /> <br />Recreation Supervisor Paulson said Recreation Department is <br />-listing all facilities and will suggest their up-grading and <br />ideas to the Budget Committee¡ that a new program planned for <br />next year will be for a IIroverli to playgrounds to conduct var- <br />ious programs such as arts and crafts; that he had done study <br />on after school program which was sUbmitted to Mr. Joe Grimes, <br />Supt. R.C. Elementary School District, for suggestions and costs <br />for a city-school cooperative program. <br /> <br />Park Supt. Balzarini advaised~that landscaping at Marina was <br />in progress {entrance}; and that at the suggestion of Director <br />of Recreation Morton he had blocked~off Cormnunity Park bridge <br />over the creek. <br /> <br />Chairman Stuart suggested that bridge over the creek be blocked <br />off to cars but that ingress and egress be maintained just for <br />the winter: that he would like to see Redwood City get up to. <br />date with other surrounding communities with respect to land- <br />scaping of the state highway areas, noting that Palo Alto, San <br />Mateo and other communities who had complained had gotten their <br />ingress and egress areas all landscaped. Mr. stuart suggested <br />that we should encourage the City Manager to see about finishing <br />~fuipple and the off-ramp of Woodside Road and the Marsh Road <br />area and to make sure that decent landscaping is secured along <br />Woodside Expressway before it is finished. Jaycees concerning the play- <br />ground project for the area bounded by Woodside Expressway, <br />railroad, EI Camino Real and Gemco, and said Mr. Fakhouri had <br />, indicated that his club could be interested in such a project. <br />Mrs. Thompson expressed the hope th~t the park proposal for <br />this area does not fall through. Commissioner Williams said <br />he had not heard from Mr. Elliott or the Standard Oil Company <br />on the matter. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned to a joint meeting with the Council and Plan- <br />ing Commission on Monday, Sept. 30, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. at the <br />Veterans' Memorial Building, Redwood Room, for presentation of <br />Parks and Open Space Report of the Regional Planning Committee <br />of San Mateo County by Mr. Sam Halsted. <br /> <br />DORIS C.
