<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />237 <br /> <br />. <br />" <br /> <br />AGENDA: 1 - "'~- . - , ~ I LjJ" "R Q ~ ~~~ 1lt!R ~ - ~ Iþ~ )1QOJ~!': J-. ;r~e.R~ e S jtn tA n .$l-~ ~- <br />l,i_e~ .p..F9P£rj:A~~..7"]...~~w-"~oß_.s.~o_:r;:e~ (Also, - Dennis Potiria, Leslie; and <br />Duane Niederman, Susaki-Walker) <br /> <br />~ - <br /> <br />STE OMBERGER PLANNING AREA - REVI SED PARK PLANS: Mr. Rodger s ad- <br />vised that-Planning Commission had,.asked Park & Retreation Comm- <br />ission review of plans before taking action~ Included in Mr. <br />Rodgers presentation was: that park access areas had-been cut <br />down to two, largely to reflect park dedication agreement between <br />Leslie and city~ that IIcommunity park II site is approx. 6.9 acres <br />(Ch. stuart noted that prior plans had denoted an area of 7.8 <br />acres), that junior high school site had been turned around and <br />residential area changed in order to find better shape for sbhool: <br />all wiring would be under-ground, which would necessitate trans- <br />formers out in front of approx. every third or fourth house but <br />not in parks; that street which would divide community park and <br />junior high site would carry minor àmounts of traffic and is not a <br />major street; that high school is anticipated for Bair Island <br />portion of Shores project. <br /> <br />Mr. Niederman included information: that pumping plants are to <br />.. be along parkway; that ci ty couldn't buy property to eliminate - <br />street between community park and junior high, as street is-nec- <br />essary: that a IIwater community park" singularly located with <br />total community access with central meeting areas or central pic- <br />nic areas would motivate home purchases. <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />Commissioner Whitmore, seconded by Commissioner Morgan, moved <br />that the Commission accept the revised plans for the parks and <br />recreation-element of the Steinberger Planning Area as presented <br />by Leslie Properties and that the motion indicate the concern <br />of the Commission that the 6.9 acre is separated by a street and <br />not adjoining as has been ~hcouraged by the Commission, and that <br />the ootion include the.reéo~end~ion iliat coMecting wal~~s <br />planned to park, recreation, school and other areas in the devel- <br />opment be of adequate size to permit their being used by both <br />pedestrians and bicyclists at the same time. PASSED UNANIMOUSLY <br />by Commissioners Knecht, Mabie, Morgan, Stuart, Thompson and <br />Whitmore, the Commission numbering six at this time, there being <br />one vacancy on the Commission. <br /> <br />~ , , '. <br /> <br />In discussion regarding the revised plans, the Commission comp- <br />limented Leslie Properties and Mr. Bill Rodgers and his staff for <br />~ the greatly improved design and for the presentations made to the <br />Commission and for the opportunity to express Commission views. <br />and concerns so that the best possible planning will go into the <br />parks and recreation portion of the Shores project.
