FXS:ma1 10/28/92 (074/29) O R I G I N A L 11/2/92 R E S O L U T I O N NO. 11883 RESOLUTION FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT, BECAUSE OF LOCAL CONDITIONS, THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, WELFARE AND NECESSITY, REQUIRE CHANGES OR MODIFICATION TO CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ADOPTION OF THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1991 EDITION, " BY REFERENCE AS PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION, MODIFIED HEREIN, AND MADE APPLICABLE TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50022 . 1 , et seq. , of the Government Code, and Section 15 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City, this Council proposes to adopt by reference the "Uniform Fire Code, 1991 Edition, " (hereinafter the "Fire Code" ) as published by the International Conference of Building Officials and the Western Fire Chiefs Association; and WHEREAS, in connection therewith, certain changes or modifications are proposed to be made to the substantive provisions of said Fire Code, which changes or modifications are reasonably necessary due to local conditions; and WHEREAS , the changes and additions to said Fire Code, which are proposed to be made clarify the Uniform Fire Code and in certain instances, impose more stringent fire protection requirements relating to the installation and use of (1) fire safety apparatus, devices, systems and (2) fire detection, products-of-combustion alarm devices, than are required by the provisions of the 1991 Edition of the Uniform Fire Code; and WHEREAS, Section 17958 . 7 of the California Health and Safety Code requires insofar as such changes and additions relate to apartment houses , hotels, motels and dwellings, and buildings and structures accessory thereto, that the governing body of a city,
