ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; AND ADDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 TO THE <br /> CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FIRE PREVENTION; AND <br /> ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1991 EDITION," AS <br /> PUBLISHED BY THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND <br /> THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION. <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS <br /> FOLLOWS: SECTION NO. 1 - THE CITY COUNCIL FINDS THAT THE UNIQUE <br /> CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TOPOGRAPHIC AND THE BALANCE OF INDUSTRIAL, <br /> COMMERCIAL AND `RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> REQUIRES THE ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE, THE UNIFORM FIRE <br /> CODE STANDARDS AND APPENDICES 1991 EDITION, TOGETHER WITH SOME <br /> MODIFICATIONS THERETO "HEREIN" SET FORTH IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE <br /> HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY IN THE <br /> CITY BECAUSE OF THE EXISTENrE OF THE FOLLOWING FINDING OF FACTS: <br /> FINDINGS OF FACT: <br /> Pursuant to Section 17958.5 and Section 18941.5 of the California <br /> Health and Safety Code, the report contained herein is submitted as <br /> the "findings of fact" document with regard to the adopting <br /> ordinance of the City of Redwood City which would adopt the 1991 <br /> edition of the Uniform Fire Code with amendments. Under this <br /> adopting ordinance, specific amendments have been established which <br /> are more restrictive in nature than in those adopted by the State <br /> of California commonly referred to as Title 19, 24, and 25 of the <br /> California Code of Regulations. These amendments have been <br /> recognized by the City of Redwood City to address the fire <br /> problems, concerns, and future direction by which the City can <br /> establish and maintain an environment which will afford a level of <br /> fire and life safety to all who live and work within its boundary . <br /> Under the provisions of Section 17958.5 and Section 18941 .5 of the <br /> Health and Safety Code, local amendments will be based on climatic , <br /> geographical , and topographical conditions. Finding of fact <br /> contained herein will address each of these situations and will <br /> present the local situation, which either singularly or in <br /> combination, cause the established amendments to be adopted. <br /> 11883 <br />
