Proposed Use of Citizens Options for Public Safety (COPS) funds of $153,398 by the <br /> Redwood City Police Department; <br /> <br /> Administrative Sergeant Hernandez explained the program stating that the funds must be <br /> used to supplement existing services and may not be used to supplant existing funds or law <br /> enforcement services. It is .the recommendation that this year's entire amount be dedicated <br /> to the salaries and benefits of the new officer positions approved by the City Council <br /> pursuant to the staffing study of 1997. <br /> <br /> Mayor Claire opened the public hearing. <br /> <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Rudy Luca asked where the funding comes from. <br /> <br /> Sergeant Hernandez responded that it is a California State grant. <br /> <br /> M/S Ira/Howard to close the public hearing.
