12. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST - <br /> <br /> A. BUDGET CALENDAR; <br /> <br /> City Manager Everett suggested the budget sessions be scheduled for July 22 and 29, 2002. <br /> Consensus of Council was to schedule the budget sessions for July 22 and 29. <br /> <br /> 7:55 p.m. - Vice Mayor Ira left the dais due to a potential conflict of interest with respect to the <br /> Retail/Cinema project. <br /> <br /> B. CINEMA UPDATE; <br /> <br /> Council Member Hartnett, Committee Chairperson, stated the subcommittee had met the <br /> previous week. He stated that thc Disposition and Development Agreement (DDA) is in <br /> place, that no changes have been made to it and any revisions would be subject to Council <br /> consideration and approval. <br /> <br /> Council Member Jordan stated that the issue is an important issue that Council should have <br /> been informed of. She asked that the Council be apprised of important infomiation at <br /> appropriate times. <br /> <br /> Mayor Claire expressed support for devising a mechanism to provide info~i~iation from <br /> Council subcommittees on a regular basis to the Council. <br /> <br /> Council Member Hartnctt stated that without an office building, thc parking needs and <br /> requirements are changed because thc garage and size of the parking garage has to do in <br /> part with the size of the office building and thc usc of thc parking garage. He stated that it <br /> is prudent for staff to understand the situation and scck information about thc result of no <br /> office prior to Council consideration of any proposed changes to the project. <br /> <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Rudy Luca asked whether Syufy would be able to withdraw from thc Retail/Cinema <br /> project. <br /> <br /> City Manager Everett stated that Syufy has never stated disinterest in the Cinema project. <br /> He further stated that the City does have a DDA with David Irmer and at any time, a <br /> developer might renege on an agreement, however, there are implications and <br /> <br /> C. Council Member Howard announced that January 21 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and <br /> she asked that the community and audience join in the celebration from 2-5 p.m. at the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center.
