Exhibit "A" <br /> 9/17/92 CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> LIBRARY MONITOR <br /> DEFINITION <br /> To monitor behavior of people using the library to ensure conformity to <br /> library rules; to maintain low level of noise consistent throughout <br /> library; to provide general assistance to patrons. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> Receives immediate supervision from higher level library personnel . <br /> IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> 1. Maintain acceptable behaviors of people using the library by walking <br /> throughout public areas of the Library. <br /> 2. Maintain a low level of noise within library. <br /> 3. Inform patrons when they are not following library rules. <br /> 4. Warn patrons of the consequences of their behavior. <br /> 5. Ask unruly patrons to leave library after warning. <br /> 6. Inform person(s)-in-charge of problem or potential problem <br /> situations. <br /> 7. Identify or investigate problem or potential problem situations. <br /> 8. Direct patrons to appropriate service areas of library. <br /> 9. Check shelves for book titles. <br /> OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIES <br /> 1. Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Knowledge of: <br /> English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. <br /> Understanding of duties of this position. <br /> Effective verbal communications. <br /> 11860 <br />
