<br />~'282 <br /> <br />Mr. Burget reported that lease agreement has been drawn up and <br />attorney has r~led that Mr., LeBlanc sign before City and that <br />as soon as agreement is signed Mr. Balzarini can start putting <br />in improvements: that he would help on publicity and apprecia- <br />tion to service clubs who h~ve offered funds to aid construct- <br />ion of the park - R.C. Kiwanis, JayCees, Sunrise Lions, etc.: <br />that City Council F.ranchise Comrni'ttee reviews real estate <br />matters and it was from this committeels report that news <br />story of Aug. 4th'was secured: and that Council had approved <br />City Manager's recommendations' at' its Aug. 4th meeting: that <br />site plans had not been approved by Council as Commission had <br />not approved them. <br /> <br />Commission discussion included: That initial suggestion for the <br />park had come from the City Manager's office after Mr. Ullrich <br />had been contacted by a Mr. Don Elliott re facilities for the <br />area following'which Planning Director, Ken Schroeter and sen- <br />ior planner, Speer McClellan, through maps had noted vacant <br />properties in the area and tentative purchase prices (12/6/67): <br />that Commission at the 12/6/67 meeting had suggested a property <br />lease use-arrangement so that equipment could be moved to <br />another location when the need for such a facility no longer <br />existed in view of the IR and CG zoning which has existed <br />since 1964 even though a number of single family residences <br />and apartments remain in area, and chairman appointed committee <br />to investigate available sites: that the uLeBlanc" site had <br />been proposed early this year and offers of monies from R.C. <br />Kîwanis, R.C. JCs, and Sunrise Lions had been received: that <br />some of these funds might not be available because of the delay <br />of the project: that Commission had reco~rnended a lease arrange- <br />ment because of high property values: that the Commission had <br />hoped the project would be completed by ~2Y of this year and <br />were disappointed that the project was still not under way; <br />and that the Commission1s hard work and pushing of the project <br />had gone unrecognized. <br /> <br />SITE PLANS FOR IILEBLANC MINI PARK" were presented by Mr. Balz- <br />arini who noted the property as being approx. lOO'x6S' feet in <br />size and at 1326 Hancock street. Mr. Balzarini proposed that <br />front area - 30'x50'-be in green lawn (instant turf); that <br />lS'x36' concrete slab be surfaced like a tennis court: a red- <br />rock walkway separate areas of lawn and play equipment area- <br />swings, other equipment: bench-type tables and park benches be <br />placed under two existing trees: eucalyptus logs will divide <br />areas: and plywood fencing would be installed on north property <br />line: a drinking fountain would be installed; that he hoped <br />to have nearby resident do maintenance. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
