Commission discussion included: That initial suggestion for the park had come from the City Manager's office after Mr. Ullrich had been contacted by a Mr. Don Elliott re facilities for the area following'which Planning Director, Ken Schroeter and sen- ior planner, Speer McClellan, through maps had noted vacant properties in the area and tentative purchase prices (12/6/67): that Commission at the 12/6/67 meeting had suggested a property lease use-arrangement so that equipment could be moved to another location when the need for such a facility no longer existed in view of the IR and CG zoning which has existed since 1964 even though a number of single family residences and apartments remain in area, and chairman appointed committee to investigate available sites: that the uLeBlanc" site had been proposed early this year and offers of monies from R.C. Kîwanis, R.C. JCs, and Sunrise Lions had been received: that some of these funds might not be available because of the delay of the project: that Commission had reco~rnended a lease arrange- ment because of high property values: that the Commission had hoped the project would be completed by ~2Y of this year and were disappointed that the project was still not under way; and that the Commission1s hard work and pushing of the project had gone unrecognized. Mr. Balzarini proposed that front area - 30'x50'-be in green lawn (instant turf); that lS'x36' concrete slab be surfaced like a tennis court: a red- rock walkway separate areas of lawn and play equipment area- swings, other equipment: bench-type tables and park benches be placed under two existing trees: eucalyptus logs will divide areas: and plywood fencing would be installed on north property line: a drinking fountain would be installed; that he hoped to have nearby resident do maintenance.
