This proposal
shall remain in effect for sixty (60) days. .

PROJECT UNDERSTANDING I HISTORY:
The City of Redwood City is proposing to retain beals alliance to provide athletic design, landscape
architectural, and civil engineering design services for the athletic field renovations at the four above
referenced parks. The general project scope as identified at a meeting on June 8th is to reduce the amount
of natural turf that uses irrigation water. In order to accomplish this goal, the City has bond fund available in
Spring 2006 to change the natural turf to synthetic turf. The existing turf field areas that will be converted to
synthetic turf are as follows:

Bid Packaae #1
1. McGarvey Field (Red Morton Park)
2. Griffen-Bechet Field (Red Morton Park)
3. Mitchell Field (Red Morton Park)
4. Hawes Park

Bid Packaqe #2 (completed throuqh Desian Development onlv in this proposal)
5. Marlin Park
6. Sandpiper Park

It was discussed at the meeting that the fields will be bid in two separate bid packages. The first bid
package will be for the identified fields at Red Morton Park and Hawes Park, and the second bid package
will be for the fields (which are currently sand-based) at Marlin and Sandpiper Parks. The anticipated
improvements will include conversion from natural to synthetic turf, irrigation system adjustments, a potential
netting or fencing system along the northern edge of Griffen-Bechet Field, some minor fencing
improvements, sport field lighting for McGarvey Field, and spare conduit for future infrastructure. All
electrical design services are limited at this time to the fields at Red Morton Park. Also, it is understood that
each of these sites has sufficient on site storm drainage system that can be utilized in this reconstruction
project.

The schedule is to bid the first bid package in Winter 2006 (preferably January 2006), award in April, and
construct the first bid package sites in Spring thru Fall 2006. The second package would likely be bid at a

Santa Clara Office
2455 The Alameda, Suite 200
Santa Clara, California 95050 www.bealsalliance.com
T: 408 985 7200 .
