CqMMI~~IQ~~ ~~qMPSON complimented Park Department on improved look of some park and planted areas but noted that some fringe areas still need attention: inquired if ther~ was any information on when expansion of the landscaped area at the Marina woulq begin. Mr. Balzarini referred to item 2 on his report and explained that they are working on a plan now in conjunction WWth Council Marina Committee--about 2500' of redwood decking between the launching ramp and the green belt--a SOxSO' piece. Commissioner Thompson tioted that she saw the lIone-way" signs were down (behind the landscaped area) and suggested that she hoped limited parking behind this area would be permitted. Commissioner Stuart said that it was his recollection that the Charley Brown restaurant people were to replace the landscaping lost due to their building on part of this landscaped area. (see Minutes of 6/4/69--pages 2/3-- DCT). Various Commissioners expressed concern that its representa- tive had not been advised of any meetings of the Council Marina Committee during the past year and suggested that a letter be written inquiring wþy. COMMISSIONER GUIDA inquired what facilities were available for - 1 .. - I).... picnics for large groups of people. Mr. Balzarini told of the picnic- barbecue area near CAB (IiThorn propertyll) where portable barbecues were available on request--also permanent barbecue in back of CAB near cement area and picnic-barbecue area and available for use, and that department have 3 larger barbecue units which could be used: said they are trying to phase out the barbecue area behind the Police Youth Building. COMMISSIONER STUART noted that Leslie had okeyed the Redwood City ... h..LI.I>.-- -_b- Kiwanis-Sea Scout operation to 1974--on the opposite side of the channel. Commissioners expressed the desire to have the opportunity to approve any plans for "landscapingll at the Marina. It was suggested that perhaps the Commission could IIget backll some of the apparently unusable property of the Port Commission--to expand a landscaping of viewing area at the Marina. 9 - ADJOURNMENT - !
