Mr. Wooten said that on June 1st kids had broken <br />into building, turned on the water which had flooded gym area and <br />entire floor had to be replaced; that additional problems as to <br />materials available, etc. had delayed project1 other areas had been <br />re-done--ceramic room, etc.; that entire building should be completed <br />soon. Commissioners expressed their concern that they had.not been <br />advised of the vandalism and the subsequent problems of repairs1 and <br />asked that in the future the Commission be kept advised. <br /> <br />MR. WOOTEN advised that Hoover pool had been closed as of Monday, <br /> <br />- J""" ..1 ~I"" M till <br /> <br />August 31st, for repairs: pool should be back in service in about <br />three weeks. COMMcrSSIONER THOMPSON cited. many of the problems <br />existing at the pool site and of the concern expressed by the <br />commissioners and Councilman Rhodes on the occasion of the recent <br />tour. Mr. Wooten explained some of the findings and corrections <br />being made. Several commissioners suggested mending of fence prongs; <br />use of aluminum panels in lieu of tile; etc. CHAIRMAN WHITMORE said <br />swimming pools are hard to maintain due to the heavy use and even under <br />the best conditions facilities take a lot of abuse. Mr. Wooten told <br />of proposals re maintenance -more school assistance. Chairman Whitmore <br />suggested re-consideration should be made concerning fees charged¡ <br />matter referred to Budget Sub-committee. <br /> <br />P~~~O ~k~~~~~~ noted that Sequoia Art Group would hold their annual <br />Fall show at Wellesley Crescent Park, on Sunday, Sept. 13th. <br /> <br />. - <br /> <br />~~~~~N ~ÃT~O~~ suggested that the Commission go on record as hoping <br />that covering of the creek in Community Park be completed before <br />June I, 1971. <br /> <br />~q~I§~lQN~B gTP!~J inquired if Park Department had received plot- <br />plan for Canyon Road so it could get the poison oak spraying done? <br />Mr. Balzarini replied that surveyors are out there now. Mr. Stuart <br />cited fire hazards in hillside areas, i.e. near Canada College, <br />Silver Hill, Seminole,-Mohican and suggested" if a 61 area could be <br />cut back and raked off it would help. eliminate a potential fire <br />hazard. Mr. Balzarini said this would be a street department duty. <br />Mr. Stuart's inquiry re landscaping on Whipple Avenue overpass <br />received the information that bids are in for this and State should <br />start any day now, etc. <br /> <br /> <br />
