<br />102 <br /> <br />,,"' L. <br /> <br />.i, ",' .,',~ " <br /> <br />Mr. Ullrich said it is important that park signs correspond with other <br />signs for the area i that original sign estimates, presented at the, last <br />Commission meeting, were for very large signs, and that he had asked the <br />sign company to provide costs for smaller and more appropriate sized <br />signs for this park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht suggested that any sign used in any parks in the <br />area should comform to the general character of those used in the <br />entire Shores project. <br /> <br />Mr. Ullrich referred to restricted use of water area due to pollution, <br />and said that a telemet~r alarm system is being worked on which would <br />send out a signal should pumping systems go out and permit immediate <br />attention to a problem. <br /> <br />To Commissioner Schencks inquiry re approved types of signs for the <br />area, Mr. Ullrich said he would give Commission copy of "Street Furni- <br />ture Report". <br /> <br />4 - LAND ACqUISITION I~ROPO~ALS - none. <br /> <br />(Continuing agenda item) <br /> <br />5 - VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING SUB-COMMÅ’TTEE - James Knecht, Chairman: <br /> <br />. h. I -L "'- <br /> <br />Recommendations (partial) and report: <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht presented the following recommendations and moved <br />their approval: ' <br />1 - That all present Veterans Groups using the building be continued <br />use of the building on a no-fee basis, with room assignment for such <br />no-fee basis taking into consideration the size and activity of the <br />group 1 <br />2 - That all scheduling for the building be done by the Recreation <br />Department, with some sort of connecting telephone link installed' <br />from the Veterans Building to C.A.B.¡ <br />3 - That the Park Department be in charge of all physical facilities - <br />land and building - maintenance, repairs, etc.; <br />seconded by Commissioner Thompson. <br /> <br />Considerable discussion enthused regarding item 3 of the above motion, <br />following which. the following action was had:- <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart moved to recommend that item 3, above, be amended <br />to read that the Park Department be in charge of the land and peri- <br />pheral areas of the Veterans Building and that the physical facilities <br />of the building be handled by t~e Recreation Department in conjunction <br />with the building maintenance department headed by Mr. Mel Moen, <br />seconded by Commdssioner Schenck, and passed on the following vote: <br />YES - commdssioners -Knecht, Stuart, Schenck, Terrill and Whitmore. <br />Noes - Commissioners Guida and Thompson. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart moved to recommend approval of the sub-committee <br />recommendations, as amended, seconded by Commissioner Schenck, and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
