' <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />PARK DEPAR~ - The monthly report was recieved and placed on filè. <br /> <br />6. RECREATION DEPARTMENT - The monthly reports for November ,and December <br />were received and placed on file . <br /> <br />Mr. PaUlson provided each CÇJlmnissioner with a res-ervation card for the annual <br />~RS District #4 InstaUation and Award :a&nque. The event is planned for <br />January 22 at the Black' Angus in San Mateo. It was learned that Frank Guida <br />had been selected as the ~dividual who had given outstanding service to youth <br />in Redwood City. The Sunris.e Lions Club has been selected as the organization the <br />conftnittee ~elt should represent the area. <br /> <br />7. G.A.P. STtJT)ENTS - It was suggested by Brett Olson that students be hired <br />tQ work on Park Department projects such as building the tab~es and benches for <br />StUlstaf Park. ~e work could be done in the high schoo~works1iops' and it <br />would allow the students to take an active part in their camnunity. The <br />Camnissioners thanked Brett for the excellent idea and wished to explore the <br />_possibility. . , - <br /> <br />8. RO~LE - Dorothea Terrill asked if ski ~essons have ever béen offered by <br />the Recreat~on De~tment? Mr. Pualson said that they are not offered but <br />Mr. Schenck informed the commission that the Y offers them. Larry Schenck wished <br />to discuŠs the poss ibili ty of covering the creek connecting Maddux PJB.yground and <br />- Henry Ford School. He said that Bill, Paulson suggested the need for better <br />access to the school from the park and would gain some acreage. Bill Paulson- <br />-asked for approval by.thec(Imnission and was goiBgto pursue the matter futher with <br />the school district.. The Ccnmdssion felt it needed tostudy such a proposal <br />before making any. 9-ecision. "Chairman Thanpson suggested - that the Secretary and <br />she get together soon to re-draft the Capital Ou.tl~ Priorities for forwarding <br />to City Manager. Larry Schenck expressed his fellings that a representative <br />or the' entire CODmlission be involved in.êaJ:1y changes in the reorgaization of staff. <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />9.
