Consideration for additional NPDES activities that go beyond the immediate
downtown areas such as for sidewalks.
M/S Hartnett/Howard to adopt the NPDES funding for making street sweeping
more effective and efficient; and additional signage funding recommendations.
Approval to apply solely to the current fiscal year. The motion passed by a
unanimous voice vote. MINUTE ORDER 05-190
7. PUBLIC HEARINGS
A. Building Permit Fees
Chief Building Official La Torra gave the report stating that the fees have not
changed since 1996 and that a study of the fees shows that the current fees do
not cover the cost of providing current services. He reported on the fees
proposed to increase in the areas of plan checking, storm water protection
inspection, and in the general fee schedule. The Council sub-committee has also
approved these recommendations that represent an approximate 14% increase
in building permit fees. The increase will not exceed the cost of providing the
service. The draft report has been available to the public and notice duly
published for the public hearing. He further stated that a recommendation in the
fee study was that a master fee schedule be developed and a provision to adjust
fees on an annual basis be approved.
Mayor Ira opened the public hearing.
Public Comment:
Daniella Gasparini, San Mateo County/Redwood City Chamber of
Commerce, Economic Committee Member, stated appreciation for the
City informing the Chamber on such matters and the reasoning behind the
increases as it does affect the businesses.
Council commended staff for working with the Chamber and using the
process of the Coro Fellows study.
Recommendation:
M/S Howard/Bain to adopt the Fee Schedule for Building and Miscetlaneous
Permits by resolution at the conclusion of the Public Hearing. The motion
passed by a unanimous roll call vote.
RESOLUTION 14668 ADOPTING FEE SCHEDULE FOR BUILDING AND
MISCELLANEOUS PERMITS AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 12883
JOINT MEETING September 12, 2005
CITY COUNCIL AND REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PAGE 9
__ _ _ __ _ ___ _._ _._
