1 i Cj- .z
We are currently approaching completion of the construction project. Everything west
of Route 101 is complete, and all work east of Route 101, except for the Island Parkway
direct access, is scheduled for completion by the first week of October. The remaining
work should be finished by the end of the year. While construction will wind down within
the next three months, substantial work is left to be done in order to close out a
Caltrans' project. These tasks include change order resolution, quantity reconciliation,
delay and schedule settlement, and the final acceptance of the improvements and files
by Caltrans.
Harris & Associates have been managing the day-to-day operations of the project. A
field office in Redwood Shores has been setup for the project, and a staff of 2 to 4
(depending on the level of activities) has been handling the work load in the office over
the past year. Thus far, Harris & Associates has perFormed satisfactorily in their
assigned tasks; however, they are approaching the authorized limits for the Project
Management/Contract Administration phase of the work.
With the construction approaching the tail end, we are able to make better assumptions
as to the duration of the project, and how much effort will be required to close out the
project. The proposed additional authorization will cover construction activities through
the end of 2005, and project closeout activities through April of 2006.
Alternative
Council can choose to not approve this Amendment. However, this will derail the timely
delivery of the project.
Fiscal Impact
Funds in the amount of $1,998,000 are available in the 2004-2005 Capital Improvement
Program (CIP) budget under the Grant Funds, to support this project. In addition, $3.1
million is forthcoming from State Grants.
' e •
,
/ -
,<
------Pet r orametsanti, P.E.
