Æ -~ l 'T T ~ Jl ~ - T I

Dianne Pound read the Committee report of a July 24 meeting. Home
Owners Association had recently given permission to use the site near
Cringle Drive for the ball field. Redwood City Park Department assisted
in its preparation and fencing and provided plans for a sprinkler system.
The Committee reported:
(a) There is a need for a ball diamond in Redwood Shores.
(b) Grassed infield and outfield required.
(c) Should coordinate Redwood City planning with Belmont schools.
(d) Groups and organizations could be approached for financial
assistance.
(e) Committee will have further report for the August Commission
meeting.

Mrs. Pound spoke to the Belmont school district and discovered funds
had been set aside for a Redwood Shores school but a definite site
had not been chosen and they were reluctant to put in a ball diamond
before completion of the school.

The Commission decided Redwood City should not wait three years for the
school to be built for the ball diamond; that the sprinkler system is
the most costly expenditure; that maintenance by the home owners and
the City Park Department is feasible; that a diamond could be where
the ball field is now even though it should not be near a waterway and
it is poorly orientated to the sun.

The commdssion recognizes the need for a ball diamond, and preferably
in time for the spring 1973 season, therefore, Dianne Pound motioned
that the staff consult with the City Manager regarding the cost, feasi-
bility and problems in locating the diamond at the present field site;
and the Committee continue to research long and short range potential
of the various sites. Motion seconded by James Knecht; carried.

REPORTS:

1 ~ ~ T,\tIV

1.

LIGHTED TENNIS COURTS - SEQUOIA HIGH SCHOOL

- 11 J '" 1. - 1 - - - L I I&.- III 1&......
