The <br />City Manager asked for alternatives on the tennis courts lighting. <br />Letters were s.ent to Dr. Judd, Canada College, about our capital <br />improvement program asking him to assist in a program of lighting <br />Canada courts. One alternative discussed was Second and Bay, or <br />lighting Sequoia courts partially without district assistance. The <br />Commission decided to persist with the Sequoia courts lighting by <br />again contacting the principal of Sequoia and requested the Committee <br />to continue to pursue the other alternatives. Statistical informa- <br />tion is compiled under the various program elements budgeted. This <br />will produce a meaningful year-end report. Additionally, when the <br />two departments are housed in the same building (CAB) it will facili- <br />tate reporting. He announced August 17 noontime dedication of the <br />Mezes tennis court. The Commission questioned that the Teen Program <br />at Sequoia was being financed from Recreation Department funds and <br />the program had not been a budgeted item. James Knecht motioned that <br />letters be written to the City Manager and City Council asking if this <br />could not have been paid from civic center tax funds and -to ask for <br />commission referral .and study before implementation of programs falling <br />in the realm of their interest. Dianne Pound seconded the motion; <br />carried. <br /> <br />Sylvester Duplessis offered the Park Department report. Frank Guida <br />complimented the department re Item #7 but in regard to partial main- <br />tenance of the Stambaugh House landscaping.
