STULSAFT PARK MASTER PLAN: Chairman Schenck appointed Joanne <br />Weintr'aub, chairman, James Knecht and Diane Pound as a committee to <br />work with Pasco Balzarini to prepare a scope of work to be included <br />in the General Improvement Plan. The first meeting was scheduled for <br />2:00 p.m., September 20, 1972. <br /> <br />2 . HARVEY BROWN MEMORIAL: Chairman Schenck informed the Commi s s ion <br />of a request that a single bed of roses in the existing Catherine <br />Brennan Rose Garden be designated in the memory of Harvey Brown. <br />James Knecht made the motion to implement the request, seconded by <br />Joanne Weintraub: carried. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br />,4IIiIiII18111 ......... b:1 ...... STATUS REPORT ON RED MORTON MEMORIAL: James Knecht reported that <br />the design was presented before City Council and the plan was approved. <br />Chairman Schenck read a letter from Riberra and Sue which stated they <br />considered it their pleasure to have worked with Red Morton and thanked <br />Bill Paulson for the opportunity to cooperate and prepare site plans <br />for the memorial for no fee. Fund raising for the memorial will be <br />the concern of the Commission. Committee meeting was scheduled for <br />September 13, 2 p.m. - <br /> <br />4. STATUS REPORT ON TENNIS LIGHTING: The Commission considers the <br />Sequoia High School site the best location for night lighting. A <br />letter to the District from Bill Paulson requested District assis- <br />tance in lighting the Sequoia High tennis courts. The request was <br />denied. Chairman Schenck will meet with them for further review. <br /> <br />5.0 Chairman Schenck reported on a meeting with the City Manager. <br />Various matters concerning the Commission were discussed. Chairman <br />Schenck will be sitting in on the interviews for the selection of the <br />Director of Park and Recreation. stambaugh House maintenance, arranged <br />without referral to the Park and Recreation Commission, was an example <br />of city projects the Commission wishes to be involved in. <br /> <br />Also discussed was the Sequoia High School dro~in summer recreation <br />program in which the recreation funds were used and a recreation program <br />conducted independent of the Redwood City programs.
