Commissioners Diane Pound and Chairman Schenck will attend the <br />National Park and Recreation Convention, Anaheim, October 1-5. <br />Bill Warren, Joanne Weintraub and Frank Guida will attend the <br />California League of Cities, Anaheim, October 15-18. <br /> <br />7 . AUGUST PARK DEPARTMENT REPORT: James Knecht commented regarding <br />the free bicycle racks and Mr. Balzarini informed the Commission of <br />a gift of some racks in addition to ones being purchased. Motion to <br />accept the report was made by Diane Pound, seconded by Joanne Wein- <br />traub; carried. <br /> <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT REPORT: Several Conunissioners attended the <br />Community Theater play and were impressed at the professionalism <br />displayed. The report was accepted by motion of Frank Guida, seconded <br />by Joanne Weintraub; carried. ' <br /> <br />ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION <br /> <br />J J - - - <br /> <br />Commissioner Frank Guida requested a chart of activities for the county- <br />wide park system. He asked progress report on the tel~phone to be <br />located in Community Park and Chairman Schenck reported that his con- <br />versation with the City Manager included this item and that when <br />Area IIC" in the park is done that a feasible location for a telephone <br />will be found then. Mr. Guida reported no meeting of his committee <br />regarding motor bike riding location but that he has been in contact <br />with motorcycle clubs regarding a regional site. <br /> <br />Commissioner James Knecht reported that the Little League ball team <br />from Hawaii arrived in Redwood City and that he had taken them on a <br />tour of Redwood City including visiting the 4gers. The team was <br />leaving for Los Angeles but took time to talk with the youngsters. <br />The Redwood City team is invited to Hawaii. Commissioner William <br />Warren has attended the Little League games and was impressed with <br />them. He said many of the parents wish to take the Redwood City team <br />to Hawaii next year and plan to explore fund raising methods for the <br />trip. Mr. Guida suggested staff look into feasibility. <br /> <br />Commissioner Joanne Weintraub spoke regarding the tree ordinance and <br />feels there is a need to inform the citizenry and tree cutting firms <br />of the conditions of the ordinance--such as through water bill mail- <br />ings. Chairman Schenck asked Pasco Balzarini to implement this idea <br />and to send registered letters to local tree cutting firms. <br /> <br />The October 4 meeting will be postponed to October 11 because of the <br />attendance of the conventions. <br /> <br />Frank Guida made the motion for adjournment at 10:00 p.m.; seconded <br />by James Knecht; carried. <br /> <br />LEE HALTEMAN, SECRETARY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />,_.._,-~ <br />
